The PTFA is a voluntary organisation and an association of which all parents and guardians of children attending Gwenfo Church in Wales Primary School, including Nursery and Primary, as well as teaching staff and members of the Governing Body, are automatically members. We also welcome friends from the wider community to join us.
Members are entitled to attend meetings, vote on proposals and make suggestions about how funds can be raised and spent.
The main objective of the Association is, in partnership with the school and parents, to enhance the education and well-being of our pupils by providing additional resources, experiences and activities for the children, as well as supporting and enhancing the facilities provided by the Local Authority.
The General Committee is an elected group of members of our school community. It is responsible for and supports the administration of all the affairs of the Association. The committee is structured to provide a framework that supports the wide range of activities undertaken by the PTFA.
The PTFA Committee always welcomes and encourages new members. We want to ensure that there is a broad range of representative opinions from across all year groups, while also making the most of the talents, skills and experience within our school community.
Meeting new people, finding out more about what goes on in school, having a say in how money is allocated and making a difference to the pupils' experience at Gwenfo are just some of the benefits of getting involved with our PTFA.
Our meetings are open to everyone, so why not come along and hear about the range of topics being discussed? You can contribute as much or as little as you wish and choose your level of involvement. Meetings are informal, friendly and relaxed, with refreshments provided.
The PTFA plays an extremely important role in the life of the school and supports it in a number of ways:
Delivering on this broad range of activities is only possible through the commitment and enthusiasm of our committee members and our fantastic team of volunteers, who work tirelessly to support the school and its pupils.
Gwenfo Church in Wales Primary School's PTFA acts as the main fundraising arm of the school, enabling it to provide new and improved resources, equipment and experiences for its pupils that would not normally be provided or funded by the Local Authority.
Our fundraising initiatives over the past few years have been affected by the pandemic. We have also recognised the need to expand our volunteer team to help share responsibilities and support the wide range of activities undertaken by the PTFA.
The PTFA always welcomes new, fun and innovative ways of raising money. If you have any suggestions, please come along to one of our meetings and share your ideas.
As the year progresses, we hope to establish a fully elected committee, alongside class representatives who will be available to chat with parents and families, share information and encourage everyone to get involved.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference to our pupils and our school community.
