The Role of Criw Cymraeg

The Criw Cymraeg plays a vital role in promoting the Welsh language and celebrating Welsh culture within our school. The group supports our commitment to developing pupils’ confidence in using Welsh naturally, both in lessons and in everyday school life.

The Criw Cymraeg members act as language ambassadors, helping to create a positive, inclusive environment where everyone feels encouraged to use and enjoy Welsh.

Criw Cymraeg encourages pupils and staff to use Welsh throughout the school day. This includes:

• Promoting simple Welsh phrases in classrooms, corridors and the playground.
• Supporting daily Welsh language use, such as greetings and instructions.
• Encouraging pupils who may feel less confident to try speaking Welsh.
